Is the new cancer treatment “immunotherapy” also effective for ulcerative colitis?

This may sound a little unrelated to ulcerative colitis.

The other day I watched “Takeshi’s Real Scary Home Medicine” on TV, and it seems that “immunotherapy,” the fourth cancer treatment method following “surgical therapy,” “chemotherapy,” and “radiation therapy,” is attracting attention these days.

There are two types of immunotherapy: one is to increase immune cells directly and actively with drugs or supplements, and the other is to culture immune cells such as lymphocytes once removed from the body and return them to the body.

Compared to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, there are no side effects or other damage to the body, and it is an excellent treatment method, but it is currently not yet covered by insurance and costs quite a lot of money (1-3 million yen).

I believe that a weakened or abnormal immune system is the cause of all diseases. There is a theory that ulcerative colitis is also an immune disorder, so perhaps this immunotherapy for cancer may be effective against ulcerative colitis. Well, the treatment cost is too high, though.
